Join me for a relaxed and hands-on session, where you’ll learn how to capture light, atmosphere, and reflections to create stunning coastal landscapes.
Using brushes, palette knives, and sponges, you’ll experiment with techniques like masking, scumbling, and tonking to add depth and texture to your work. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is a great way to build confidence and develop your painting style.
Come along for a creative and inspiring day, where you’ll learn new techniques, enjoy the process, and take home your own beautiful seascape!
Tools & Texture: Use brushes, palette knives, and sponges to experiment with the look and feel of sea and sky.
Perspective & Reflections: Learn how reflections and perspective can bring depth and atmosphere to your paintings.
Impasto & Brushwork: Play with texture and bold brushstrokes to give movement and energy to your coastal scenes.
Suitable for ages 16+
Refreshments will be available throughout the day but lunch is not provided. There are a selection of cafes within a short walk from the studio, or feel free to bring a packed lunch.
No experience necessary. This workshop is perfect for beginners.
Please bring old clothes or an apron - painting can get messy!
Long stay parking is available a short walk from the studio (Court Street Car Park: Parking charges apply)

Textiles Illustration

Textiles is a versatile medium, great for creating artwork as well as embellishing home furnishings and clothing. In this workshop you will learn to use appliqué, basic embroidery stitches and beading to create your own decorative fabric cupcake illustration.

Pointillism in Acrylics

Pointillism is defined by its use of mark making and colour. Pointillism paintings are created from hundreds of dots of carefully placed pure colours, relying on the eye to mix the colours to achieve maximum luminosity, in a similar way to pixels on a screen.
Learn how to use reds, blues and yellows to create the whole spectrum of colours. In this workshop we will look at basic colour theory, pigment strength and colour mixing before going on to create a colourful acrylic painting to take away with you.

Get started with Oil Paints

Starting out with Oils can be a daunting prospect, but with just a few basics you can unlock the potential of this rich and exciting medium.
In this beginners workshop we will be getting to grips with oil painting. You will gain understanding of the paints, learn about colour mixing and basic application techniques, and receive step-by-step guidance in creating your own still life painting.

Mastering Reflections | Large Scale Charcoal Drawing

In this workshop we will be getting messy with large-scale charcoal drawings.
Working at A1 in scale we will be looking at reflection and the refraction of light on glass as well studying the way in which glass objects interact with positive and negative space.
